BELLUNO BELOW.
Was going to go back to Croatia today but saw on the news that this region is having an abnormally warm spell with great weather, so decided to go to the Dolomites instead because the weather has to be good to enjoy them.
The only day I should have have left early but only got going at 8am for some reason and was in Italy within forty minutes, no borders anymore, no stopping, suddenly you see the sign and you're in another country.
Rode the Autostrada to make up time to Fernetti border then N toMonfalone, Purdenone and arriving at Belluno at noon.
Stopped and took some photos and then headed out and my front tyre was flat, again!
After stopping at two garages and 7kms later I found shop that could fix it, but now it was 2pm, because they take lunch from 12 to 2pm. After being told it will be 30 minutes , two hours later it was all done, had new brake pads put on aswell and that was €195 somehow. After buying a new spare tube in town I finally got going , but the day was over and the sun was dipping and it was cooling off.
As I rode further the scenery and mountains were just ever incresingly getting more mind boggling till to the top of Fedaia Pass (2057m) and down into Penia . Have never seen anything close to the ruggedness of thr sheer rock faces, absolutely stunning in the fading light.
Stopped at a small bar on the main road cause there was four guys sitting outside , so asked them if they knew where my hotel was. We chatted and they asked if I would like a beer and I said no as I wanted to get to my room. Three hours later the one guy drove and showed me the hotel, 200m up the same road and tomorrow he is taking me on a tour, he has a Ducati. Gret bunch of guys, given me some nice routes and options of what to do here. Most the places are all closed as there are no tourists now and it is bliss.
