MONTENEGRO ---- PODGORICA TO KOTOR DAY 280 174km.

Progorica - Skadar Lake - N to Cisente - Lovcen NP. - down Kotor Serpentine into Kotor.

A slow paced day, left at 10:30 am and headed south to SKADAR lake after driving through the capital which is like a small town, doesn't have much , but was okay. You can see it is a poor country, like Albania, but in Albania when I was parked at the supermarket getting my normal breakfast of yogurt, a banana and chocolate milk, a Lamborghini SUV pulled up behind me and a young girl climbed out it and gave me the hairy eyeball. So there are well to do people obviously but generally you notice the housing and the apartments, old and run down.

wines are cheap here and they have a gret variety in this Hipermarket I went into for my yogurt and banana and chocolate milk.

Got to Skadar Lake then headed N on a narrow road through some small mountains, nothing great but a nice back route to Cistene. Continuedon to Lovcen NP and went to the top to the Mauseleum of Petra 11 Petrovic - Njegos which was up at 5500ft. Unfortunately there was some cloud cover and views were not happening, I was told you can see Italy from there besides the neighbouring countries.

Then headed down the Kotor Serpentine which I had heard about and it was quite a pass but I was blown away when the view opened up to Kotor about 4000ft below. Saw this town with a narrow strip of water and towering mountains all around it a cruise ship anchored.

When I finally wound myself down into the town and along the shore past the old walled city and some ruins up high, I was amazed at the beautiful architecture and the mountains falling into the ocean, makes Lake Como look like a cess pool.
Found a beautiful spacious room with a small kitchen and a nice large balcony on the seashore overlooking the lake like ocean, it's truly an exceptional view as I sit on the balcony and write this blog and overlook the bay with the lights shimmering on the dead calm waters. I immediately went for a refeeshing swim in the crystal clear 24* C water and then went out for a delicious past meal at a rather fancy joint, but it was well worth it.

I got back from dinner and as I was entering my room the lady came over and said there had been a misunderstanding and the guy in the opposite had booked my room and would I give it to him. I laughed and said "No ,no not happening " this all through Google translate. She didn't seem to care and smiled and didn't come knocking again.
