DAY 14 SWAKOPMUND TO UGAB RIVER 238km. 5 hrs.

Took me forever to get all packed up and it was cold and damp and finally  left at 9:45. On my way out I saw the two French cyclists and they said it was tough from Solitaire  up, road corrugated and had to push a lot, but wasn't  phased by it and they ran out of water. Went Anton for a quick breakfast and then headed N up the coast on the Salt road to mile 108 which was 192 km and then turned inland.

The coastline is about 1km from the road and is all beach all the way up the coastline and is all flat so you can see the waves and plenty of fisherman casting from the beach.
At Cape Cross there is a huge seal colony with thousands of seals and it sticks to high heaven.

The D2303 road goes just above Brandberg  and there was an old abandoned mine along the desolate road.

There is no vegetation and is all rocky leading up to the mountains. The last ten kilometers were beautiful and the road dropped down into a canyon into the Ugab River, which was real rocky but a fun ride down on a bike.

The camp is Save Rhino Trust an NGO outfit and you can camp for free , but it is basically wild camping .
