PETRA DAY 138 29-4-23

Walked all day maybe 20km around Petra, didn't know what to expect as I knew nothing about it and had'nt looked at any pictures of it. People when they have been there want to show you on their phone all the pictures they took and I have to tell them I don't  want to see them and they look at you a little strangely, why would I want to see them when I'm heading there, drives me nuts.
It is an amazing place, truelly impressive around every corner and over every hill.
So if you're not coming here look at these pictures,  okay so they're not the best, I know, cause I took them.

JORDAN DAY 135 & 136 399km.

TEL -AVIV TO AQABA  JORDAN  DAY135 399KM.

Left Brian and Cheryl's house after he made me a full on breakfast and rode down south almost the same way I drove up. Roads were empty cause of the holiday and when I stopped for $2 a litre fuel a series of fighter jets flew over four abreast for like 5 minutes.

You have to pay $ 30 to exit Israel, was done in 35 minutes, entering Jordan took 1.5 hours and had to use a CDP for the bike and insurance. Decided to stay the night and go snorkelling tomorrow, so damn hot here. Israel was nice and cool except by the Dead Sea.

DAY 136.    THURSDAY 27 APRIL 23

Went for a snorkel and then to Mc Donalds for a burger and then back to the hostel ($14 + brekfast) then walked around town and got a haircut.
Tomorrow will head up to Wadi Rum and camp there hopefully.

TEL-AVIV & JAFFA DAY 134 MEMMORIAL DAY 88km.

The Jewish holidays start in the evening and end the following evening. So at 8pm the sirens go off and evryone stops for two minutes in rememberance of the fallen soldiers, police and firemen.
I arrived in Jaffa early and just walked around the old town and then up the promenade along the coast to Tel-Aviv.
At 11am the sirens went off and everyone stops in their tracks, traffic even stops and people climb out their cars and stand in silence.

    JAFFA

This evening Memorial Day ended and Independence day started, 75 years. We went to the village where they have a big celebration with dancing and fireworks. So in the morning everyone is crying and then in the evening you have to be smiling and happy for Indepence Day, rather strange but was priveledged to have experience all these celebrations.

Tomorrow I will head to Jordan, down to the southern border at Eliot and cross there.

JERUSALEM MEMORIAL DAY Day 134 25-4-23 214km.

Had a nice breakfast and Kobe and I headed to Jerusalem which is about 140km south of his place.

Was great to have someone show me around and that knows the place. We visited the chirches and The Holy Wall and walked through the market and saw a number of rememberance plaques where people had been fatally attacked, a lot of stabbings.

After the old city we went to the Jewish Machane Yehuda market about 2km away and had lunch and walked around, only has two roads with lots of eateries and produce where the locals come, very few tourists.
Just after we left an Arabic Jew rammed his car into the crowd.

    MACHANE YEHUDA MARKET.
Brian invited me to stay with them and arrived at about 4pm and then went to the Memerial service in the Village with his family, they lost a son in the military in 1997.

LAST RACE DAY 8th JUNE 2024

The race was postponed three times and finally got going at 1pm, only two laps, but the track is 37.7 miles long.
